How to earn mileage

How to earn Korean Air mileage

If you do not have enough or no Korean Air mileage, I hope you will gradually accumulate it as you use it in the future. In fact, mileage is not much different from cash, so if I don’t receive it, I will only lose money, right?

Mileage accumulation criteria

You can accumulate Korean Air mileage by using the menu below. Please note that you do not need to take a plane to accumulate mileage, but you can earn them at various points.

1. Two ways to earn points when using airline tickets
When making a reservation with Korean Air, you will receive points if you tell the staff your SKYPASS membership number during the check-in process at the airport. Another way is to enter your SKYPASS membership number at the kiosk and your mileage will be automatically accumulated after boarding.

Please note that you can only apply for mileage accumulation after boarding within 1 year from the boarding date. If you forgot to accumulate mileage, you can apply for accumulation within 1 year by entering your airline ticket and boarding pass information in the [My Mileage – Earn mileage after boarding] menu. It works.

There are some airline tickets on which mileage accumulation is not possible. It is said that mileage accumulation is not possible in the case of airline tickets for infants under 2 years of age or discounted airline tickets that do not allow mileage accumulation. Also, please note that points cannot be earned for airline tickets taken before the SKYPASS subscription date.

It is said that the mileage validity period is 10 years from the date of boarding. Mileage is valid until December 31st of the 10th year, so if you don’t forget and don’t even think about using it, you have plenty of time.

2. Earn points while using the hotel

Points can be earned when using a hotel

You can also accumulate Korean Air mileage if you use a hotel affiliated with Korean Air. Let’s take a look at which hotels we have partnerships with. Please note that in most cases, you can earn about 500 miles per night.

3. Use a credit card and save money

Earn points when using affiliated credit cards

Just like hotels, there are credit cards that are affiliated with Korean Air. You can accumulate mileage when you use this. This is the method I use most often, and I think it’s because I usually use credit cards the most. Personally, I recommend a credit card rather than a check card. The savings rate is higher.

(Did you know that there is a separate Korean Air card? It has a high accumulation rate, so check here for details)

4. Earn points while using a rental car

A rental car is a must when traveling to Jeju Island.

I think one of the things I always use when traveling to Jeju Island is a rental car. If you accumulate mileage when using a rental car, you can save even more. Once you select your travel itinerary and preferred vehicle, you can check prices by company in real time. The earlier you book, the cheaper the price is, so check it out now.

5. Use partner airlines and earn points

You can earn points even if you are not a Korean Air.

When using airline tickets, you can earn points even if you do not use Korea Airport. You can earn mileage when using airlines included in the partner airline list. I think this is actually the best tip because most people have the preconception that they can only earn mileage if they fly with Korean Air.

Korean Air is a member of ‘Sky Team’

Korean Air is a member of SkyTeam, and you can earn mileage on any airline that belongs to SkyTeam. Of course, there are cases where points are not possible depending on the class/segment/airline ticket, but please still check.

Since there are so many SkyTeam airlines and partner airlines, we will replace them with photos, so click to take a look.

You can use your mileage for aviation-related products and other affiliated companies and services. First, let’s look at aviation-related products and services.

2. Seat upgrade bonus

Bonus tickets mean free tickets. If you have enough mileage, you can use it to purchase airline tickets without spending your own money, and you can also use it to have a more comfortable trip by upgrading your seat.
