Starting August 31, the G Dream Card (children’s meal card) will be available at all general restaurants in Gyeonggi Province. This is the first time in Korea.
Gyeonggi Province announced that, through continuous consultation with NH Nonghyup Bank’s Gyeonggi Sales Headquarters and BC Card Company since last year, children’s meal cards (G Dream Cards) will be available at 180,000 BC affiliated general restaurants in the province from the end of this month. The day was revealed.
The children’s meal card is one of the ways to support children’s meals, in which cities and counties provide meals to children under the age of 18 who are at risk of skipping meals due to difficult economic circumstances such as their parents’ unemployment. A meal card in the form of a credit card is issued to allow customers to use regular restaurants. G Dream Card is the unique name of the children’s meal card implemented by Gyeonggi Province.
The problem is that the children’s meal card can only be used at local government-affiliated stores, which causes the inconvenience of users having to check at each restaurant to see if the card can be used, or having to travel far to find a restaurant that can use the card. In the case of Gyeonggi-do, there are only about 3,500 general restaurants where the G Dream Card can be used, so there have been many suggestions requesting expansion of the number of places where it can be used.
To solve this problem, the province, together with the Gyeonggi Sales Division of NH Nonghyup Bank, the operating agency of the children’s meal card system, has been promoting a plan to automatically link general restaurant affiliates of BC Card to the G Dream Card.
With this BC Card affiliated store linkage measure, the number of general restaurants using the G Dream Card, which was only 3,500, will expand to over 180,000. However, it cannot be used in establishments that are unsuitable as children’s meal franchises, such as bars, grocery stores, and cafes.
Available merchants can be checked through the G Dream Card website (gdream.gg.go.kr) from 00:00 on the 31st, and can also be checked through the mobile app (NH App Cash) within September.
Park Geun-gyun, head of the child care department at Gyeonggi Province, said, “We expect that this measure will allow more diverse menus to be available at restaurants near homes,” and added, “We will continue to push for improvements so that undernourished children can use restaurants more comfortably.” .
Meanwhile, the province plans to replace the existing magnetic card with an IC card with the same design as a regular check card starting in January of next year, starting in some cities and counties in December, so that the G Dream Card can be used more conveniently regardless of what people around you think. .
