구글플레이 환불 Summary of Google Play Store refund methods

hello. This is a blogger’s hope story. Today, we prepared a column summarizing how to refund the Google Play Store. In the Google Play Store, there are apps that can be downloaded after paying for a fee, and in-app purchases that can be downloaded for free but induce payment within the app. As with all payments, if the consumer does not like or receives a payment that is not announced after payment, he/she may request a refund according to the consumer’s rights.

In particular, Google Play Store refunds have a set policy and have the advantage of being able to proceed with a 100% refund if the reason for the refund is met. That’s why refund agencies are prevalent, and in the case of apps such as famous games, you can see a lot of advertisements that claim to charge a specific fee and proceed with a 100% refund. However, in my opinion, when it meets Google’s policy, refunds are supported regardless of whether an individual or a company applies, and the application process is not complicated, so I would recommend you to proceed yourself. In this article, we have summarized the Google Play refund policy, refund confirmation, and how to deal with refunds when refunds are rejected.

Learn about the Google Play Store 48-hour refund policy 비지니스헬퍼
Google has a 48-hour refund policy, and the possibility of a refund varies greatly depending on whether or not this period has passed.

1. Refunds within 48 hours: Most refunds are most likely to be accepted upon application, and both paid app purchases and in-app purchases are possible. At this time, when a paid app is deleted immediately after purchase and deleted from the app installation list, there are cases where it is automatically refunded even if you do not apply, and even if it is not automatically applied, it is 100% applied. Instead, if you download the same paid app again, you need to be careful as there will be no refund in any case.

In the case of in-app purchases, the possibility of a refund is determined by the company that provides the app. This is because some large game companies have entered into a refund agreement with Google, so Google refunds are not possible. However, most apps accept the Google Play refund policy as it is, so you can process a refund without difficulty when applying.

2. Refund after 48 hours: If you read Google’s refund policy, you will be guided to contact the developer for refunds after 48 hours. However, if you go through the refund application process even after 48 hours, it is often accepted normally, and it is not too late to contact the developer after that.

3. Google Play refund processing time: Debit and credit cards are processed within 3 to 5 business days, and mobile carrier payments are processed within 30 business days. It takes 1 business day for Google Pay payment, 1-10 days for online banking, 3-5 days for PayPal, 3-5 days for Payco, and 3-5 days for Kakao Pay, so you can estimate the deposit date depending on your payment method.

How to Request a Google Play Refund

1. Access the Google Play Store My Account page. (play.google.com/store/account)

2. Enter the My Order History menu.

3. Find the Google Play payment you want to cancel.

4. Click Report a problem on the right.

5. Press Choose option.

6. Select and select the reason for my refund from the views.

At this time, refunds are not possible in most cases of simple change of heart, such as purchasing by mistake or not wanting the purchased product anymore. I don’t know how the purchase or charge came about, I bought but didn’t receive it, the product has a combination or it doesn’t work as advertised, 100% refund is available if there is actually a problem with the product you paid for and the product you received. However, it is virtually difficult to get a refund because there are still issues to prove hacking or product problems. So purchases made by friends or family members without my consent are most likely to be refunded out of the selections.

Coincidentally, my cousin was playing with my smartphone and paid for the wrong game, so I’m going to ask for a refund.

7. In the problem description, write the current situation according to the reason for the selected option and click Submit.

8. Your Google Play refund request has been completed. You will receive an email with the result of your refund request within 48 hours.

Check the Google Play refund processing email
As soon as I applied for a refund, I went to my email and was able to see the result right away. It’s within 48 hours, but most of the results come out at the same time as the application, so please go to the Google email you paid for.

There were two payments for which I applied for a refund, but one was refunded and the other was rejected because it did not conform to the policy.

1) Google Play refund approved.

A refund has been processed to the payment method used for purchase. You may lose access to your purchases after a refund. If your payment method was charged, we will refund you. The amount of time it takes for your refund to be reflected depends on your payment method. You can also see your payment method and refund status in your Google payments profile. Orders that have not yet been charged to your payment method will not be charged in the future.

2) Google Play refund request information (refund denied)

We’ve received your refund request, but we can’t refund your purchase because the request doesn’t comply with Google’s policies. We apologize for any inconvenience.

I received such conflicting results with other apps that I paid for at the same time. There is no problem now if the refund request has been processed, but for the case where the refund was declined because it did not meet the policy, you must now process the refund through the developer inquiry stage. If you have applied for a refund from Google Play above and are rejected like this, the only way left is to contact the developer directly.

How to contact the developer when Google Play declines a refund

1. Search for the app you paid for in the Google Play Store.

2. If you scroll down, you can check the developer contact information.

3. You can write the reason for the refund to my email and send it to me.

As for the tip for writing the reason, it is good to write what app you used and paid for, why you are trying to get a refund, and your payment information. If you are not a Korean developer, we recommend using a translator to send it in the language appropriate to the developer country.

I am currently making an email inquiry about a case that has been judged non-refundable on Google Play, but I do not know the rules or policies for refunds on the app, so I do not know if it will be accepted or when I will receive a reply. Still, in order to receive a reasonable refund for the part where the problem occurred, we recommend that you do not give up and send it with the idea that it is worthwhile to make money. thank you
