Myeongdong Culture Park
91-2, Judong 1-ga, Jung-gu, Seoul
The meeting place is not a cathedral
Myeongdong Cultural Park!
I’ve been to Myeongdong many times and didn’t even know there was a cultural park.
*Arrive at the park 10 minutes before the tour start time
*Bring your own earphones
You have to listen to the explanation through the receiver
iPhone earphones or wireless earphones are not allowed
Just make sure you keep these 2 things 🙂
Once everyone is gathered, receivers have been received and checked.
program pamphlet, and the docent tour begins!
The weather is clear, it’s not too cold
I’m just happy
😊😊
If it gets colder, I think it will be cold when listening to the explanations outside.
On the way up to the cathedral from the park!
1898 in the biblical language of ‘five diseases’ 🙂 cute
1898 is the year Myeongdong Cathedral was blessed and consecrated.
A docent explains the architecture of the Catholic Hall before visiting the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes
the architecture of the Catholic Center.
I feel like I’m traveling in Europe lol
Nostalgic bike ride 🚲.
This is a place of prayer, so the docent didn’t go in.
Only the tourists went in and prayed for a while and came out.
Now I’ve been to Myeongdong Cathedral many times and it’s a friendly place:-)
It’s beautiful whenever you look at it, hehe
Myeongdong Cathedral went through a lot of difficulties from land purchase to construction in 1883
from land purchase to construction in 1883.
If you turn around and look down from this location
It is currently hidden by tall buildings, but,
Yeongheejeon Hall, where the royal mausoleum was preserved during the Joseon Dynasty, is nearby.
which is said to have been in conflict with the Joseon government.
Why would a Western haunted building overlook Yeongheejeon, where the king’s tomb is enshrined?
overlooks Yeongheejeon, where the king’s spirit is enshrined,,,the conflict was severe!
Designed by Frenchman Father Kost of the Paris Evangelical Church
It was blessed and consecrated on May 29, 1898.
The main gate with bronze reliefs of Myeongdong Cathedral.
I didn’t even know this bronze door had a sculpture like this.
The person on the top left is
Fr. Jang Ji-mo, the first priest to celebrate Mass in Korea,
on the right is Jeong Yak-jong, president of the lay organization.
The group of hooded people below them
represent the missionaries, whose identities were concealed by their robes.
(At that time, they did not speak to people who were in state.
