핸드폰 초기화 방법 2 ways to reset your Samsung Galaxy phone

핸드폰 초기화 방법The first method is to go into your smartphone settings, go to General > Reset > Reset entire device, and proceed with the reset. It can be said to be the most common and normal method. Samsung’s official website also recommends this method.

Samsung cell phone reset

When you perform a full device reset, all data on your phone will be deleted, including account information, system and app data, downloaded apps, settings, music, photos, and other user data.

Encrypted files stored on the SD card will no longer be usable after the entire device is initialized, so if you used encrypted files, be sure to check before initializing them.

Before resetting your phone, you can use the Smart Switch app to back up your data to an SD card or USB storage device, so please back up any important data.

I didn’t have any important data, and I had moved it all to a new phone using Smart Switch, so I reset it by pressing Delete All without a separate backup. There is a separate article written on how to transfer cell phone data and use the smart switch, so if you are curious, please refer to it.

Data backed up to the SD card will not disappear, so if you have performed a backup, you can restore the SD card data using Smart Switch after initialization.

Clicking Delete All does not mean that initialization will proceed immediately. You must enter the PIN number you set to authenticate yourself. Once identity verification is complete, a full reset will be performed and the phone will return to its initial settings.

If you are unable to proceed with the full device reset method, you can follow the second method for resetting your Samsung phone.
The second method is using Android recovery mode. This method is also called a forced factory reset. This is also a method not recommended by Samsung. Samsung calls any method other than resetting the entire device an abnormal method.

Preliminary work is required to force reset your phone using Android recovery mode. If you have used a terminal with a registered Google account, FRP lock is automatically applied. This function is commonly called Google Lock. This function is applied to prevent others from resetting and using a lost cell phone. If you just perform a forced reset in Android recovery mode without prior work, you will need to connect to your Google account and authenticate during the initial setup process after booting to be able to use it. If you sell a used cell phone and it has a Google lock, both the person who sold it and the person who bought it will have a headache, right?

Therefore, before performing a forced reset, you must first perform preliminary work to prevent Google Lock.

First, set up your Google account deactivation. If you go into Settings and select Accounts and Backup > Account Management, linked accounts will appear. Please delete the Google account linked there.

Next is OEM unlocking. You can think of it as a Google Lock proactive prevention setting. Go to Settings and select About phone > Software information. Then, if you touch the build number several times, you will enter developer mode. From there, you can enable Allow OEM unlocking.

Factory reset

Now all the preliminary work to prevent Google Lock has been completed. To perform a full-fledged forced factory reset, shut down your phone and remove the SIM card.

The method to enter Android recovery mode is slightly different for each Galaxy model.

If you have a Galaxy S21 or later, connect your computer and phone with a USB cable, and press and hold the Bixby button and volume up button at the same time.

For other models, the method varies depending on whether the Bixby button is present or not. (Models before Galaxy S21)

If you have a Bixby button, just press and hold the Bixby button + volume up button + power button at the same time.

If you don’t have a Bixby button, just press and hold the volume up button and power button at the same time.

If you have successfully entered Android recovery mode, a screen like the picture will appear. Touch is not possible in this state. You can move up and down with the volume buttons. Use the volume buttons to move to Wipe data/factory rest.

Once you have moved, press OK with the power button. Then, a full forced factory reset will be performed. This cannot be canceled, so if you have important data, please back it up in advance.

When you reboot after the initialization is complete, the initial settings will appear, just like when you bought a new phone. Initialization is complete.

If these two methods do not work, please visit a Samsung service center for assistance. In order to reset at a Samsung service center, you will need various documents depending on the situation. These can be checked on Samsung’s official website, so please prepare them in advance.
