At the Franchise Startup Expo held at COEX this time, we looked into the cost of starting a business in the field of interest.
What we focused on this time was unmanned store startups, and related industries included unmanned pet stores, so-called unmanned pet shops, unmanned cafes, unmanned study cafes, unmanned stationery stores, unmanned laundromats, and unmanned screen golf.

Of these, the one that caught my interest the most was the unmanned pet store.

The franchise pet stores that participated in the expo were three brands: Nobody’s Dog, Dog and Cat Convenience Store, and Petfruit.
Among these, none of the stores I had ever seen were franchise pet stores that were already operating in several locations in our area.


Each brand had a brochure containing the business start-up process and advantages, so I brought them and compared them.
For a store measuring about 10 pyeong, the initial cost of the product seemed to be more than 10 million won. The larger the store, the higher the initial cost, and you may also need to consider a contract for inventory returns.

The Nobody brand operates its own warehouse and can sell refrigerated and frozen snacks. Also, being able to operate an additional dog bath and photo box seems to be an advantage. They were all attractive as they were all unmanned startup items.


The second unmanned pet shop franchise brand is a dog and cat convenience store. I saw this store on my way to Gapyeong and it was my first time knowing that it was a franchise brand.


The most attractive thing about starting a dog and cat convenience store was that franchise and training fees were free. There are quite a few brands that charge several million won for franchise and training fees, but I liked that this part was free.


This place also has its own warehouse, so logistics distribution seems to be stable, and a supervisor visits and manages the business, so having a post-start-up management system from the head office is considered a big advantage.



The last one is the Petftre brand. This is a brand that lists the start-up costs in detail so I can take a good look at it. It is a brand that requires franchise fees and training fees.


As someone who raises dogs, an unmanned pet store was a very attractive business idea. While starting an unmanned store, a study cafe was the item I wanted to try the most, but after doing some research, I found out that it was the most expensive item, so I gave up, but it seems like there are a lot of different unmanned stores these days.
