It’s been a long time since I used a commuter pass for parental leave.
In the meantime, things may have changed.
We recommend that you contact KORAIL for sure!

A review of going to work while using a KTX commuter pass for a year!

Before marriage, she went to work from Pangyo to Chungjeongno.
It took about 1 hour and 30 minutes (and one way…)

After marriage, I moved from Gwangmyeong Station to Chungjeong-ro.
Right now, it takes about an hour to get enough one way.

How to go to work from Gwangmyeong Station to Chungjeongno

Gwangmyeong Station → Seoul Station (by KTX) → Chungjeong-ro (by bus)
going this route

It’s the same when I get off work, instead, about a month these days?
I often walk from Chungjeongno to Seoul Station.
Waiting for the bus or walking
Because it is the same…

First, take the KTX from Gwangmyeong Station to Seoul Station.
As much as I didn’t know how to use it
I’m going to explain my review of the ‘KTX Commuter Pass’ 🙂

Photo = Korail website capture

There are various discount systems on KTX.
Among them, I am commuting using a ‘regular ticket’.

If you press ‘Regular/Discount Voucher’ in the ‘Korail Talk’ app,
Regular tickets, N cards, special products, etc.
You can purchase a variety of regular and discount tickets.

Among them, if you look at the ‘regular ticket’
Free period commuter pass/general commuter pass
It is divided into two

If you use a commuter pass only on weekdays,
There is no problem using either one.

but! If you use a commuter pass until a holiday
You must use the ‘period-free commuter pass’

In the case of a commuter pass for free period, ‘use including holidays’
After checking, click Search Train
The amount includes the holiday voucher amount.

If you do not check the ‘use including holidays’
Same price for period free type and commuter pass
available

Gwangmyeong Station to Seoul Station, and Seoul Station to Gwangmyeong Station
round trip like this
From April 21st to May 21st, the fare is ‘168,000 won’

If it is not a commuter pass, the general fare is 8,400 won.
Boarding during the same period (excluding holidays)
8,400 won X 20 days X 2 times (round trip), a total of ‘336,000 won’

However, by using a ticket
50% discount (for 1 month)
What you can use for ‘168,000 won’!

Your boarding pass looks like this
(Mosaic for information protection)
Can only be used by yourself
It is not possible to capture and use

Look at the bottom of the ticket
There is a section called ‘Seat Assignment’.
Literally, if you use a commuter pass
It is for those who want to reserve a seat.

You can select your seat up to 1 day before departure.
(Not on the same day)
Can be designated up to 2 times a day
You need to pay 1,300 won for seat selection (No. 1)

In fact, Gwangmyeong Station→Seoul Station
Seats are rarely full.
Seating is rarely used

And it was booked 1 day in advance.
There is no feeling of discomfort.
It’s about 15 minutes, so I don’t need it
If you are going a little further
That doesn’t sound like a bad system!

Advantages and disadvantages of using KTX for a year

Advantages
-Arrived in 15 minutes from Gwangmyeong Station to Seoul Station
-Easier to come than by bus
– Seats are rarely full
Can sit even standing
– There is no limit on the number of rides per day
available multiple times

disadvantage
-KTX really delayed (I arrived on time for 15 minutes)
almost none)
– No response if an accident occurs once
(Experienced up to 27 minutes delay…)
-Since it is a standing seat, the seats are ambiguous..

Each has distinct strengths and weaknesses, but in Pangyo
Much better than commuting all the way to Chungjeongno!
