The 26th Gijang Gatmaul Festival
The “Gijang Gatmaul Festival” is a representative pure cultural festival of Gijang-gun held in the area around Ilgwang Beach, which was the setting for the novel “Gatmaul” by Oh Young-soo and the movie “Gatmaul” directed by Kim Soo-yong and starring Shin Young-gyun and Go Eun-ah produced in 1965. Starting with the first festival in 1995, it has been reborn as a festival where citizens can experience vibrant culture and art by utilizing local cultural content (slippery nets, clam fishing), and enjoy passion, freedom, romance, and affection suitable for the summer season, and will be celebrating its 26th festival in 2024.
