When to apply for a monthly rent refund and monthly rent support for youth who do not own a home
Apply for monthly rent refund
Most people apply for a monthly rent refund when they file their year-end tax settlement (the beginning of the year) or comprehensive income tax return (every May), so you may think you can’t do it at other times, but you can always do it. To do this, go to the National Tax Service’s Hometax website and proceed in the following order: report/payment, comprehensive income tax return, and request for correction.
A request for rectification is a case where you initially reported a large amount of taxes and wish to claim a reduction in the tax base and tax amount. Simply put, it means requesting a refund of the amount of tax you paid.
Even if you forgot to report the monthly rent tax credit, be sure to apply now as it will be applied retroactively if you have paid rent for up to 5 years.
